Simplify Your Life 3
08/03/2026

Simplify Your Life

The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week. This annual observance invites you to eliminate stress and anxiety, refocus your life and calm your mind.

Simplifying your environments – both at home and work – can help reduce your stress levels, prevent burnout and enhance your overall well-being.

Here are tips to help you simplify your life at work:

  • Prioritize your tasks. Be efficient with your time by focusing on the most important tasks first.
  • Divide and conquer. Break larger, more challenging tasks into manageable steps and celebrate each small win along the way.
  • Communicate effectively. Be clear and concise in both digital and face-to-face interactions. Ask for help or flexibility when needed and delegate tasks to colleagues.
  • Take regularly scheduled breaks throughout the workday. Step away from your desk, even for just a few minutes – go outside, walk around a bit or just pause for a reset.
  • Set clear boundaries with your time. Define your work hours and personal hours – especially if you work from home – and stick to it!

Here are some tips to help you simplify things at home:

  • Unplug. Take a break from social media and/or all screens – including the TV. Use the time to accomplish other things you want to do.
  • Cultivate your personal interests and hobbies. Add value to your personal life by engaging in things you enjoy. Just don’t overcommit!
  • Stay socially connected to others and seek support. Reach out to friends, family or co-workers regularly – and don’t be afraid to don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed.
  • Practice self-care. Try five to 10 minutes of mindfulness each day. Breathe, reflect, stretch, relax or sit quietly – without your phone.
  • Add more self-care: Get plenty of sleep and move your body every day. Aim for seven to nine hours of sleep each night, with consistent sleep and wake times. Daily physical activity – even a 20-minute walk – reduces stress and boosts your mood.

You don’t need to change your life dramatically to simplify it. Small daily actions, practiced consistently over time, will help restore your energy and prevent stress and burnout. Start simplifying your life today to strengthen your resilience and protect your well-being for tomorrow.
